Mr. Jon Mason

Jon Mason is currently Director of e-Learning at the Centre for School Leadership, Learning and Development at Charles Darwin University. Since 2005 he has also been Director of InterCog, an independent ICT consultancy based in Australia focused on e-learning, research, and knowledge networking services.

His clients have included government agencies, educational institutions, international consortia, professional associations, and corporations. Jon has worked extensively in international ICT specifications and standards development since 1998, initially as the founding co-chair of the Dublin Core Education Working Group but more generally within the e-learning domain – including the IMS Global Learning Consortium and the IEEE LTSC. Since 2000 he has served as the Australian Head of Delegation to ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC36 and chaired its mirror committee for Standards Australia.

Earlier appointments included in a number of senior roles for Education.Au limited, a ministerial non-profit agency formed in 1997 for the purpose of leading collaborative projects focused on ICT for the Australian Education and Training sector. Jon has an extensive publications record and Masters Degrees in Knowledge Management and Cognitive Science. He is actively engaged in research activities within Charles Darwin University and also affiliated with Queensland University of Technology where he is completing a PhD on technologies that support deep inquiry.
