ARKO, the mobile app developed by the Mobile team of Pointwest  Technologies in  conjunction  with  Project  Noah  of the DOST was honored and recognized at the  WSA-mobile in Abu Dhabi.

The World Summit Award Mobile (WSA-mobile) is a global initiative to select and promote the world’s best in mobile content and innovative applications within the framework of, and in cooperation with, the United Nations’ World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), mandated by the WSIS Plan of Action and executed in collaboration with UNESCO, UNIDO and UN GAID.

WSA-mobile emphasizes cultural diversity and identity, the creation of varied information content and the digitalization of educational, scientific and cultural heritage. It aims to make the benefits of the new Information Society accessible and meaningful for all humanity, and in particular, to raise public awareness and give deserved public recognition to the highest quality e-Content, produced all over the world.  The winners are invited to the WSA-mobile Global Congress to showcase their innovation on a global stage which was  at the 3rd World Summit Award, WSA, Mobile Content 2015 between 1st and 3rd February in Abu Dhabi.

The 40 global winners which  included ARKO represent 30 UN member states from the Middle East, Western Europe, North and South America, Russia, Africa, South and East Asia. Award entries and subsequent nominations cover a range of key economic, social and business areas, including commerce, government, environment, health, education, inclusion, empowerment, entertainment, lifestyle, tourism, culture and media.

As the only ICT award reaching out to the mobile community by honoring its content developers and experts in more than 178 countries, WSA focuses on originality, diversity and creative content through innovative IT solutions that have positive long terms implications on people’s lives, from mobile apps that meet the needs of those with physical disabilities to ground-breaking educational apps and emergency response tools.

It also showcases more than 500 mobile applications with the world’s best top 40 mobile producers gathering in Abu Dhabi to share insights, knowledge and international best practices while discussing the latest trends of innovative mobile content creation.

ARKO was unable to  attain  the " Global  Champion " award in its category  but is  no less a winner ! This is the first  time in 10  years that the Philippines has reached this  far.

ARKO  was in the  company of the finest  mobile apps  created  thus far in the world  that bridge the digital divide and close information gap, deliver great value to its citizenry and society at large .
