Dr. Mohammad N. Azizi is a well-known technology economist and international development expert with track record achievements with the UN, USAID, World Bank, Government and Academia. He holds Ph.D from Okayama University and was former Fellow at Stanford University and UNITAR, Japan. He has over 15 years of professional experiences, managing projects in distinct sectors including information & communication technology and institutional development.  Currently Dr. Azizi serves Afghanistan Information Management Services (AIMS – as Executive Director. Dr. Azizi is the team leader for the innovation support program and also serves as the Country Expert to the United Nations’ World Summit Awards. Mr. Azizi has served in different senior management and strategic positions. Before joining AIMS, he was the CEO with a consultancy & mining company.  At the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Azizi managed and operated the Afghanistan government budget valued over US$ 2 billion as the Director General of Budget Department. Since 1998, Dr. Azizi has been teaching in university the undergraduate and post graduate courses. He has served as Guest Professor at Kabul University and American University of Afghanistan. He is a skilled writer, editor and author of international development documents in a wide variety of sectors. He is multilingual and fluently speaks English, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Urdu and Japanese. Mr. Azizi regularly represents Afghanistan in international forums and also appears on electronic media and discusses the issues related to national, regional and international affairs on Aljazeera, CNN, BBC, VOA and local media. He has visiting, working and living - country experiences in Japan, France, Germany, United States, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Norway, India, and Denmark.

Sanzar Kakar
Afghanistan Holding Group (AHG)

Mr. Sanzar Kakar is the Chairman of Afghanistan Holding Group (AHG). Since 2009, AHG has provided professional business services including, accounting, auditing, taxation, payroll, research and monitoring and evaluation, procurement, and cutting-edge technology services. AHG employs over 180 full-time, highly qualified Afghans in Kabul, Mazar, Herat and Kandahar, calling on an additional pool of over 800 professionals across all 34 provinces for specific short term support. 

Mr. Kakar graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Engineering and from Warwick Business School with a Master’s in Business Administration. At the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Kakar served as the Manager of the Wharton Graduate Association. Following his undergraduate degree, he worked for Merrill Lynch as a Technology Analyst on a trading desk for bonds and equities, creating a link for automatic reporting to the New York Stock Exchange.

Mr. Kakar started in Afghanistan as an Investment Associate for Acap Partners, setting up a $20 million venture capital facility and sourcing over 300 new deals for consideration. Mr. Kakar joined as an Executive Advisor to the Attorney General’s Office of Afghanistan on a U.S. Department of State program to reorganize the institution and setup a nationwide paper and computer criminal case management system spanning 7 justice institutions. Mr. Kakar then served as the Economic Advisor for the Afghanistan Investment Climate Facility, setting up operational and fiduciary requirements for the 7 year £30 million grant facility in Kabul, followed by a promotion to Deputy Interim Team Leader. Mr. Kakar speaks English, Pashtu and Dari.

Shafi Sharifi
Corporate Affairs for Roshan

Shafi Sharifi is the Director of Corporate Affairs for Roshan, Afghanistan leading telecommunications provider. He has over a decade of experience in communications, journalism, marketing and media relations. Before joining Roshan, Sharifi worked as the Communications Director for Alliance in Support of the Afghan People (ASAP), an international coalition based in Washington D.C., advocating for sustained engagement of the international community to protect the gains and achievements of the Afghan people.

Since joining Roshan, Sharifi has been leading communications and Public Relations efforts, including the company’s social media channels.

Sharifi is a graduate of University of New Mexico (UNM) in the United States and holds an honor degree in Economics and Political Science.


Ananya Raihan is currently the Executive Director of D.Net (Development Research Network). Raihan started his professional career at Kharkov State University, Ukraine as an Assistant Professor in 1993. He also served as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), a leading civil society think tank in Bangladesh. He immensely contributed at Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) as an Associate Professor and Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) as a consultant. Raihan has a diversified research interest which includes access to information and knowledge, international trade, financial sector reform, corporate social responsibility and SME development. He was awarded the Ashoka Fellowship in 2004 in recognition of his contribution as a social innovator in the area of ICT for the rural community.
Raihan is currently the secretary General of Bangladesh Telecentre Network (BTN), which aims to build up information and knowledge system for the poor and marginalised by 2011 under its Mission 2011. As a researcher he performed professional works for a number of international and regional organisations including UNCTAD, WTO-ITC, SAARCFINANCE, OXFAM, CENTAD, SAPANA, SCCI, UNESCO and ICTSD. Raihan completed his MS in Economics (specialisation: Economic Cybernetics) in 1990 and was awarded Ph.D. in Economics in 1994 from V.M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics, National Academy of Science, Ukraine.

Dr. Elizabeth Quat is the Founder and CEO of CB Strategic Investment Limited which focus in investment in ICT and Education areas. Dr. Quat is also the Co-Founder and Immediate Past President of Internet Professional Association ( which now represents over 2,500 ICT professionals. It contributes towards improving professionalism of information technology practitioners, encouraging ICT professionals to share social responsibilities, as well as striving to bridge the digital divide in Hong Kong. She holds a BBA, MBA and PhD degree in Management and has over 20 years of experience in Asia market entry, new business & product development, and M&A. Dr. Quat is an active member of many China and HKSAR Government Advisory Committees and community servicing organisations such as the Digital 21 Strategy Advisory Committee, Logistics Development Council, and the Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee. She is also the Founder of Green ICT Consortium and the Hong Kong Energy Saving Association, and a member of the All-China Youth Federation of mainland China. She was awarded one of the “Ten Outstanding Young Persons” and “Ten Outstanding Young Digi Persons” in 2001, "The Most Successful Women" in 2002, and "Hundred Outstanding Women Entrepreneurs in China" in 2006. Dr. Quat was also elected District Councilor of Hong Kong Shatin District Council in November, 2007. 
Dr. Quat recently completed a Master Degree in Social Sciences major in Marriage and Family Therapy from the Hong Kong University’s Family Institute.  In February 2010, Dr. Quat joined the scientists of the “ELYSIUM” project on a 20-day expedition of the Antarctic Peninsula and Southern Ocean to examine the impact of climate change on the oceans and Antarctica. Dr. Quat, a certified PADI dive Instructor since 1998, was one of the members of the diving team and a supporting photographer of the expedition to document the underwater and above water world of Antarctica. Dr. Quat is married and has been a vegetarian for 23 years.

Osama has been British Chevening Fellow in 2002 and in 2011 he was invited by the US State Department for the “International Visitors Leadership Program”. He just released his 4th Book titled “NetCh@kra: 15 Years of Internet in India”. He is a member of the Advisory Board for National Optic Fibre Network (NOFN). At the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, for the Community Radio Licensing, Osama Manzar is a member of the Screening Committee.He has recently initiated a regional movement on “How Mobile can Empower Masses” through mBillionth Award South Asia, recognising and mentoring Mobile Content, Application & Services. In 2003 he launched Manthan Award, India’s first ever award for choosing the best e-content practices. Manthan Award has extended its reach to the Asia Pacific region recently and has accumulated more than 4000 best e-content practices in its nomination database. Osama Manzar is e-Content Expert for India for World Summit Award (WSA), Grand Jury Member and member of the Board of Directors. In addition, he has been Jury Anchor for the Dataquest e-Gov Champion Award (2008), for Bahrain e-Content Award (2009), Sri Lanka’s e-Content Award & Bangladesh e-Content & ICTD Award-National Digital Innovation (2010). He has been the moderator for e-North east Award Jury (2012). Shinta has pioneered a web company called in Indonesia in 1996. Today, that web company has evolved into Indonesia's leading Digital media Agency.  She has also been in the mobile content business for the past five years. 

So after a long track records in the dotcom, mobile and ICT industry, last year, she started a new venture with TELKOM Indonesia which is the biggest telecommunication company in Indonesia. So she is now the CEO, of a newly formed subsidiary of TELKOM GROUP called MOJOPIA that focuses on the most trusted and biggest Ecommerce portal in Indonesia,  The company basically will be responsible as well in designing content and Internet/digital roadmap in leveraging synergies of various companies within TELKOM group.

She is member of ASPILUKI (Software Association of Indonesia) and of the Committee in the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) as the Vice to the Head of the Telecommunication IT and Media for Content and Application division.
